NATIVE OF CHEROKEE NATION PASSED AWAY: Rufus Brown was a Cherokee citizen, and was born at Briggs Station, Indian Territory, 77 years, 9 months and 10 days ago. Rufe was known as a constant reader and a walking encyclopedia of old Indian Territory history and Indian lore. At one time the Brown family owned a rich farm along the Horse Pen Creek in the section just west of the Chan Evans farm. Rufus took and active part in the securing of a school here in the early days.
