MRS ALICE JENNINGS BIRDSALL
Mrs Alice (Jennings) Birdsall of Albany, formerly of Otego, widow of William Birdsall, died Wednesday morning at Memorial hospital, Albany, after being ill four weeks. Her sickness was the first she had suffered within the memory of her son, Webster Jennings Birdsall, North Chatham.
She was born May 19, 1857, at Worcester, daughter of Anthony and Polly (Ritton) Jennings, and she was married to Mr Birdsall in 1888. He died May 10, 1902. After leaving Otego she lived in Hamilton, Amherst, Mass, Pittsburgh, Pa, Scranton, Pa, Washington, DC, and Albany; She was a member of James Madison chapter D A R, Hamilton. A woman of fine Christian character, she retained her membership in Immanuel Episcopal church, Otego, and took an active part in church work wherever she lived.
Surviving are the son, Webster Jennings Birdsall, and a grandson, Allen Crandall Birdsall, North Chatham; a stepson, William M Birdsall, Buffalo; and several nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces. Her stepson also is her nephew, being the son of her sister, the late Mrs Marion (Jennings) Birdsall, who was her husband's first wife. Mr Birdsall was a well known business man who operated enterprises in Elmira, Albany, Cleveland, O, and Otego.
The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Bailey Funeral parlors at Otego with burial in the Otego cemetery. The Rev. Francis Blake, rector of St Matthews church, Unadilla, will officiate.
