Emanuel Everheart or Everhart the son of Jacob Everheart, who was the son of Balthasar Eberhardt, a native of Germany, and Catherine Beal the daughter of Nicholas Beal also a native of Germany. Emanuel grew up in Hawkins County and Green Counties in Tennessee, and moved to Benton County, Alabama, in 1839, and to Grayson County, Texas in 1848. He purchased 3800 acres near Whitewright. By 1889 he had sold 3000 acres and farmed 800. Emanuel was one of the wealthiest and most respected men in the community.
