Obituary--George B. Stiffler died at the home of Charles Rutherford Monday evening after a long illness. He leaves a wife, a family, and many friends to mourn his demise. The deceased was born in Indiana, August 5, 1837, and there he grew up to manhood, and at the commencement of the Civil War enlisted in the 35th Indiana Volunteers and served his country four years. At the close of the war he moved to Missouri where he was married to his first wife at the age of 35. Three children were born to this union, but they all passed to the better land. He was married to his second wife in 1885. Three children survive this marriage and live at Lenora. In 1901 he married Mrs. Nancy Rutherford. He was a member of the Masons. He was also a Workman in which order he carried a $2,000 policy.

Short services were held at the M. E. Church Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock, Rev. A. Warriner delivered a brief address, assisted by the Masons of this place. At the close of the service the Masons took charge of the funeral and conducted the service at the cemetery.

Mrs. Nancy J. Stiffler, the widow of the deceased, desires in this connection to extend her sincere thanks for the kindness and sympathy, the asistance and comfort given during the sickness and death of her husband.

George B. Stiffler was born in Rush County, Indiana. He enlisted at age 24. He was a blacksmith. He enlisted August 16, 1862 at Wabash, Indiana, for a period of three years. Eyes were blue; hair light, complexion light; height 6 feet. He was mustered in September 5, 1862, at Indianapolis, Indiana. During his service he was hospitalized for 7 months. His conduct during his hospital stay was good. He complained of varicose veins.
He mustered out at Plattsburgh, New York on July 7, 1865.
