He had not been in good health for the last two years but had been in Fort Wayne last Wednesday. He suffered a stroke of apoplexy on Thursday which resulted in his death.

Mr. Fruechtenicht was born on the old Fruechtenicht farm just a half mile from where he died. He had resided in that neighborhood his entire life and was practically a lifelong member of the Suburban Trinity Lutheran Church.

Surviving are the wife, Sophia; four sons, Frank, Martin Fred Jr., and Hugo Fruechtenicht, all of Fort Wayne; three daughters, Mrs. John Hartman, of this city; Mrs. Alma Hitzemann, at home, and Mrs. Carl Schmidt of Washington Township; seven grandchildren, and four sisters, Mrs. Christ Poehler, of Wayne Township; Mrs. Martin Bremer, of New Haven; Mrs. William Prange, of this city, and Mrs. Henry Thiele, of Yoder.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon a 1 o'clock at the residence and at 1:30 o'clock at the Suburban Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Karl Wyneken will officiate. Burial in the church cemetery. (Fort Wayne newspapers 1930)

(Per Wikipedia, "apoplexy has been used as a synonym for "stroke"...may have been used to describe the symptom of sudden loss of consciousness immediately preceding death and not an actual verified disease process." This term is no longer used by physicians.)
