Anton St. Peters, 79, Dies Tuesday - Anton St. Peters, 79, died Tuesday night at 1040 o'clock at the home of his son, Edward St. Peters, at Dow. He was in fairly good health until Monday evening when he was stricken. He failed to recover consciousness after the attack and died the following evening. Mr. St. Peters was born in Jersey County January 29, 1850, and spent his entire life in that vicinity. He was well-known farmer, operating a farm in till after the death of his wife, seven years ago. After his wife's death Mr. St. Peters resided at the Edward St. Peters home. He is survived by four sons, Edward and Oliver of Godfrey, John of Alton, and Jake of Kane. He also leaves 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held Friday at 11 o'clock at the Methodist Church in Elsah where and burial will be in the Elsah Cemetery. Services will be in charge of the Rev. Smith of the Dow. (Alton Evening Telegraph, March 6, 1929)
