Mary was the second of eight children born to Gertrude Susan Noxon and Thomas Francis Carroll. On August 16. 1947 she married Melvin Odell Giffin and settled in Santa Barbara. Together they had three children: Roberta Gale, Thomas Lee and Mary Diane.
