George Nathan TROUT was born 11 Jan 1782 near Timberville, Rockingham, Virginia, the son Revolutionary War soldier, Ens. Georg Michael TROUT (1750-1822) and wife Elizabetha BAER.

George married Anna Marie MILLER on 16 Mar 1809 at Rader Lutheran Church near Timberville, Rockingham, Virginia. She was the daughter of Matthias MILLER and Anna Maria Moyer SCHAFFER. At least 10 children were born to this union.

George TROUT served in the war of 1812 from Rockingham County, Virginia, additional details pending.

In about 1816, George moved his family from Rockingham County, VA to Botetourt County, VA, and soon purchased a 250-acre farm on Roanoke River at mouth of Peter's Creek near current city of Roanoke. The farm adjoined the Michael MILLER Farm, both being the site of the current Veterans Facility.
