Soldiers in King Philips War, by George Madison Bodge (1896), p.81, lists Jonathan Bunker among those who served in the Mt. Hope campaign under Capt. Thomas Prentice in 1675. Also listed in that company, immediately following Jonathan's name, is James Lowden, who married Jonathan's widow Mary after Jonathan's death. Jonathan is listed again, p.84, among the company serving under Lt. Edward Oakes, probably in the winter of 1675/6. Lt. Oakes was a veteran of the Mt. Hope campaign.
Bunker Genealogy, the Charlestown, Mass. and Nantucket, Mass. Branches, by Edward C. Moran, Jr. (1965), p.9, says that Jonathan died of smallpox and is buried in "Phipps St. Burial Ground Charlestown."
