Mr. Leon Ruth- Air Force retiree:
Aiken- Mr. Leon Ruth, 76, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at his residence.The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church with Father Michael Oenbrink officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Ruth, a native of Houlka, Miss., had retired as a senior master sergeant from the Air Force after 30 years and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, during which he earned the Air Force Longevity Award, Good Conduct Medal, EAMET Ribbon, Occupation Medal. He was a member of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. Survivors include a son, David Leon Ruth, Aiken; three daughters, Betty Ann Dowdy, Macwelton, W. Va., and Tina Morrow and Sherry Lynn Freytag, both of Lincoln, Neb.; two brothers, William Charles Ruth, Longview, Wash., and Buren Ruth, Vicksburg, Miss.; three sisters, Lavelle Haggard, Mobile, Ala., Velma Hooks, Louisville, Miss., and Dorothy Faye Acker, Louisville, Texas; and 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans. George Funeral Home, Park Avenue, is in charge of arrangements.
