Raymond T. COLE, Ph.D. Professor and business consultant, died at Overlake Hospital on December 19, 2007 after a short illness. Dr. Cole was born in Acton Montana in 1919 as one of three siblings to parents, Mark Cole and Kate (Ethridge) Cole. Ray served as a flight instructor for the Army/Air Force during World War II and subsequently worked in Washington D.C. for the OSS, the predecessor to the current CIA. He attended George Washington University though he received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Washington. He was employed as Chief Accountant at the University of Washington in the early 1960's and taught accounting and other business subjects at the University of Maine, UW, Seattle Pacific and Seattle University as well as Highline and Shoreline Community Colleges during a long and distinguished academic career. Ray was the founder and executive director of the Northwest Ethics Institute. He was a consultant to a variety of local business entities as well as consultant with the Small Business Administration where he assisted local entrepreneurs in starting and running a business. He was active in community affairs as a board member and volunteer at the Seattle Art Museum, long time member of the Sand Point Golf and Country Club, treasurer and active member of the 46th Legislative District Democrats, an active member and vestryman of St. Mark's Cathedral and a member of the Seattle Scottish Rite. Ray's two sisters, Opal Robbins and Helen Gallagher, are deceased. He is survived by nieces, Teresa McCarthy, Laurie Larson, Susan Wise, and nephew, Jim Gallagher. Remembrances may be sent to St. Marks Episcopal Cathedral. Internment services were held at Acacia Cemetery on January 8. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Mark's Cathedral at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 13.
