Death of Mrs. B. C. Buckley

Though not unexpected, the announcement of the death of Mrs. B. C. Buckley, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. G. C. Swearengen, last evening, about nightfall, has filled many hearts with grief, for she was a most popular and highly esteemed lady.
Mrs. Buckley had been ill several days, having had several attacks of paralysis, resulting in the rupture of a blood vessel in the brain, which caused her death.
She was born in Pike county, February 28, 1837, her maiden name Miss Bethany Craft. After the completion of her education, on April 1, 1856, she was married to Mr. James Buckley, and moved with him to Monticello, Mr. Buckley being probate clerk, a position he held for many years, till he moved to Brookhaven, and was elected chancery clerk of Lincoln county several times.
The family moved to Jackson in 1880, where they have since resided, Mr. Buckley dying in 1883.
Mrs. Buckley was a sincere Christian, a lady of large charity, and much beloved by all who knew her. She has done as much for humanity as any lady in the State. She was a member of the Methodist church for forty-five years, and lived up strictly to its teachings.
She was the mother of two sons and four daughters; Benjamin, Mack (dead), Mrs. A. H. Longino, Mrs. E. S. Wilson, Mrs. G. C. Swearengen, and Miss Gay.
Her funeral took place from the First Methodist church at 4 o'clock, Galloway and Dr. Murrah conducting the services.
