In a funeral service conducted in Trinity Lutheran Church, Friedensau, last Thursday afternoon, May 24th, the mortal remains of Mrs Adelheid Olsten were laid to rest to await the Resurrection morn. "Grandma", as she was affectionately called, reached the very old age of 98 years, the oldest member in the 75 year history of Trinity, as far as records show. Rev H R Miller conducted the service; the male choir under the direction of E H Riekenberg sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus."

Mrs Oltsen was born in LaSalle county, Illinois, on August 15, 1854. At the age of one year she moved to Iowa with her parents and later (1879) to Nebraska. She was confirmed at State Center, Iowa, and married to Frederick Oltsen on October 19, 1868. Their marriage was blessed with eight children: Anna (Mrs Fred Waldmeier)predeceased her mother in 1942; Laura (Mrs Richardson) died in 1947; Fredericka (Mrs Lige Biehn) living at Cleveland, Minnesota; Emma (Mrs Robert Moyer) died in 1920; Louise (Mrs Christian Drews), Hebron, Nebraska; Emilie (Mrs Andrew Thieme) Hebron, Nebraska; Ernest, Hebron and Caroline, died as an infant of five days.

Altho having enjoyed an exceptional record of good health, Grandma Oltsen failed rapidly during the last few years. A week ago, Thursday morning, about 9 o'clock she suffered a stroke which partially paralyzed her and left her in an unconscious state until God took her to Himself last Monday noon, having attained the age of 98 years, 9 months, and 6 days. Her husband and four children predeceased her. Those left to mourn her departure are three daughters, Fredericka, Louise and Emilie; one son, Ernest; one son-in-law, Mr Andrew Thieme; one daughter in law, Mrs Ernest Oltsen; 12 grandchildren (4 predeceased their grandmother) 41 great grandchildren (3 having died); 15 great great grandchildren; plus a large number of relatives and friends.
