Marie was the daughter of Jarves and Catherine Weiss Bedacht from Germany and had siblings: Valentine (1885) and Minnie (1887) born in Pennsylvania and Caroline (1889), Henry (1894), William (1896), and Albert (1900) born in Ohio. She first married Arthur Christen on 29 November 1911 in Lucas County, and they had a son, Arthur. Marie had an eighth grade education. By 1930, Marie and Arthur were divorced and she and their son were living in Detroit. she married Elmer Marriott after the death of his wife. Marie died at the age of 94 years 10 months and 28 days.
