Dr. Brokaw was an active figure in all civic affairs of the community for a long period of years. He was identified with many community organizations in leadership capacities through the years and he contributed much time and effort in the interest of civic progress locally.

He served as president of the Hancock county chapter of the American Red Cross for four years, retiring several years ago. He was later elected an honorary vice president of the organization in recognition of his long and invaluable service to the Red Cross. He served as roll call and fund chairman before becoming chapter head.

Dr. Brokaw was a charter member of the Findlay Rotary club when it was organized in 1920. He served as the second president of the organization and was an active committee leader during the 31 years the club has been in existence here. He served two terms on the club board of directors.

He was secretary of the board of directors of the Findlay Y.M.C.A for some years. He later was a member of the finance and house committees.

Dr. Brokaw was an active leader in the First Methodist church. At the time he became ill, he was chairman of a committee in charge of an extensive repair and improvement program covering a four-year period at the church. He had served as head of many other church groups and as a member of the board of trustees. At the time of his death, he was a member of the board of conference claimants of the church.

He was chairman of the board which was named by the common pleas court in the twenties to construct the new Hancock county children's home on North Main street, following adoption by the voters of a bond issue for this purpose.

During World War II, he served as a member of the advisory board of the selective service system in Hancock county. He also was active in other phases of the war effort in both world wars, locally.

For some years after the organization of the boy scout movement here, he was a member of the council and served on various scouting committees, including the executive committee.
Dr. Brokaw served as a member of the board of the Hancock county Farmers' club. He was a member of the Findlay County Club and belonged to the Chamber of Commerce.

Coming to Findlay in the late nineties from Bellefontaine, Ohio, Dr. Brokaw, who was a graduate of the Indiana state dental college, practiced his profession of dentistry for a number of years here, later retiring from active practice to become identified with various interests, locally.

For a number of years, he was a partner in the Morescot clothing store here and in 1915, he and R.K. Davis became associated in the opening and development of the South Park addition.

Dr Brokaw was a native of Richwood, Ohio. His parents were William and Viola (Fisher) Brokaw. He spent early years of his life in Oil City, Pa., and in Minnesota and then went to Indianapolis to attend dental college. He began the practice of Dentistry in 1897 in Bellefontaine and two years later came to Findlay.

He was married to Miss Alice M. Wagner, August 10, 1911. She passed away suddenly on a trip to Florida in 1941. A sister, Dr. Maud Brokaw, of Findlay survives as well as a brother, Ernest Brokaw of Grove City, Ohio.
