Noted woman writer, philanthropist and civic leader of the early 20th Century in Northwest Louisiana. Wrote for the Shreveport Times from 1903 to around 1924 on Society and other issues, in columns such as "As It Happens." With a keen ear for news and gossip and with literally thousands of friends and informants for hundreds of miles around Shreveport, she wrote about deaths, marriages, birthdays, travel, rivalries, scandals, aspirations and sundry other events in the lives of people from the famous to the ordinary. Major benefactor to Shreve Memorial Library, also was a member of the state Constitutional Convention of 1924. "She took a prominent part in every movement for the betterment of Shreveport and Louisiana," the Shreveport Journal said the day after her death.
