Stephen Benjamin Anderson

ANDERSON, Stephen Benjamin – Age 66, of Roseburg, passed away October 16, 1997 as a result of cancer. He was born April 26, 1931 in Great Falls, Montana to Guy Winfield and Jennie Christiana (Smith) Anderson. He had lived in the Roseburg area for the past 27 years, moving from Madras, Oregon. Stephen was united in marriage to Grace E. Fowler on May 17, 1953 in Columbia Falls, Montana. He followed the construction trade as a heavy equipment operator and was working for Jack Mathis Construction in Roseburg at the time of his retirement. He enjoyed oil painting and after retirement, research genealogy. He loved to restore old cars and could do anything. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local #701. Mr Anderson served in the Korean Conflict with a peace keeping force in Trieste, Italy. He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Grace; children Scott Winfield Anderson and his wife Cindy of Livermore, California, Penny Jo Curtis and her husband Rex of Buckner, Missouri, Michael Stephen Anderson of Roseburg and Karen Jean Woll and her husband Robert of Troutdale, Oregon; one sister Betty Stapley of Columbia Falls, Montana; one brother Douglas Anderson of Moore, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins all over the U.S. And Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Richard, Howard, Willard and Lester Anderson. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 25 1997 at 2 p.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 1864 NW Clalkins Rd. LONG AND SHUKLE MEMORIAL CHAPEL is in charge of arrangements.
