William Roberts Jr son of William and Martha Roberts, was born 1836 in Marengo County Alabama.

Religion: Baptist - Member #302 of the Nanafalia Baptist Church, Marengo County Alabama, joined August 1854 and was dismissed December 1854, same day his mother was dismissed, when they relocated to another area in Marengo Co., Al.

On July 2, 1860 William and his brothers Joseph and James purchased land on the same day. William purchased 80.32 acres of land in Marengo County, Al., Joseph purchased 240 acres and James purchased 320 acres. No doubt these three brothers were preparing for their future.

William Roberts and Seny Chapman were married the 6 Dec. 1860 in the home of her parents, S.D. Chapman, in Dixon Mills, Marengo County, Alabama, she was the daughter of Samuel Davis Chapman and Martha "Patty" Etheridge Chapman.

William and Seny had one son, Richard Jasper Roberts born 19 Nov. 1861 in Marengo County Alabama.

March 26, 1862, William Roberts enlisted in the Confederate Army, Company E, 32nd Alabama Infantry, Wood Bluff, Alabama.  The same Company his brother Joseph J. Roberts joined. William Roberts died April 26, 1863, age 27, at Tullahoma, Tennessee, at the Breckenridge Hospital.  

William Roberts and his brother Joseph J. Roberts are both on the list of men who died during the civil war in Tullahoma, Tennessee and are buried in the Maplewood Cemetery. The third son of William and Martha Roberts, James Thomas Roberts, also died in the Civil War. His burial site has never been found and at this time is considered to be an unmarked grave on a battlefield in Tennessee.
