Onufry F. Wanta, age 69, Wittenberg, died Tuesday, January 17, 1978 at St. Michael's Hospital, Stevens Point.
He was born September 27, 1908 in the town of Sharon, Portage County, the son of the late Martin and Stasia (Knopkowski) Wanta.
On November 26, 1928 Onufry was united in marriage to Mary Weller in Galloway. She survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include five sons, William, Tigerton, Robert (Delores), Escondido, CA, Frederick (Betty), Eland, James, West Allis and Gerald, Galloway; four brothers, Otto Wanta, Stevens Point, Roman Wanta, Wendle Wanta and Ernest Wanta, all of Milwaukee; two sisters, Agnes (Ferd) Garski, Racine and Georgeanna Hellengddrung, Milwaukee; 31 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Onufry was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Funeral services were held January 20, 1978 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Galloway. The Rev. Jerome Kamla officiated. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
