RINGGOLD, GA — Leo D. Anderson, 81, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2010, at his home. Mr. Anderson was born in raised in Gainesboro, TN.
He was a graduate of Gainesboro High School and Tennessee Technical School. He was a member of East Ridge Church of Christ where he served as an elder and was active in the benevolence program. Mr. Anderson retired from Velsicol Chemical Co. as an accountant and was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean War including the Battle of Heartbreak Ridge. He will always be remembered as a very loving father and husband.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vance and Ruby Anderson; sisters, Marie Clark, Madge Chaffin, and Nell Smith; and brother, Bryan Anderson.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Gay Anderson; daughters, Rosemary (Ron) James, of LaFayette, GA, and Dawn (Mark) Matlock, of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Mckenzie Matlock, Dylan Matlock, Shawn Bible, Ashley (Erin) Bible and Geoff James; great-granddaughters, Lyla Bible and Ava James; beloved family members, Lance James, Rhonda (Doug) Bailey, and Brent (Chardel) James; sister, Helen Stanford; brothers, David (Linda) Anderson and Paul (Darlene) Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8:15 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 31,2010 at the funeral home with Minister Charles Cochran officiating.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 404 S. Moore Road, East Ridge, TN.
