Clara Suwyn, age 89, a former Birnamwood resident, died April 7, 1994 at Pinecrest Nursing Home, Merrill.

She was born July 8, 1904 in Hartsvale, IN, the daughter of the late Jacob and Minnie (Kikkert) Van Prooyen, Sr.

On April 23, 1924 Clara was united in marriage to Peter Suwyn, Sr. in Wausau. He preceded her in death on November 14, 1982.

Survivors include one daughter, Dena (Robert) Annis, Merrill; three sisters, Cora Vlietstra, Wausau, Nellie Krause, Aniwa and Martha Miller, Wausau; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Clara was preceded in death by three sons, Frederick, Jacob and Peter, Jr.; one sister, Ada; four brothers, Jacob, Jr., Nick, Tony and Lenard, one granddaughter and one great-grandson.

Funeral services were held April 9, 1994 at New Hope Community Church, town of Easton. The Rev. Larry TenHaken officiated. Interment was in Forestville Cemetery, town of Easton.
