Axel G. Falk, 91, of Cook, died Sunday, February 15, 2004, at the Cook Nursing Home. Axel was born on February 7, 1913 in Norway. He came with his family to the United States as a child. He graduated from the Cook High School, and worked in the CCC camps in Northern Minnesota in the late 1930's.

Axel served with the 47th Bombardment Squadron of the Army Air Corps during World War 11, where he was a Sergeant and aircraft engine mechanic. He was head surveyor for St. Louis County for many years. He later worked in the woods, and enjoyed the outdoors. He and his brother Andrew "Andy" were talented musicians, and played for numerous dances and events in the Cook area. Axel had lived in the Homestead Apartment Building for several years, and has been making his residence at the Cook Nursing Home since 1999.

SERVICES: Graveside services will be held this spring at the Cook Community Cemetery.
