OBIT:

Funeral services will be held at Puyallup Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. W. H. Rader, 87-year-old Kittitas Valley pioneer. She died Saturday at Puyallup where she made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Blossom R. Rogers.

The services will be held at the Wrigley and Clements Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Tacoma.

Mrs. Rader was born in Oregon Territory at Salem in 1864. She came to the Kittitas Valley in 1877 when she was 13 years old. The Rev. Keathley Bailes, her father, was the first Christian Church minister in Kittitas County and Mrs. Rader was, until her death, the only remaining charter member of the Christian Church in Ellensburg.

Mrs. Rader's family moved its livestock from Oregon Territory to Yakima and then to Ellensburg. She grew up here in the early-day stock-raising era of this valley with its bands of roving Indians and herds of cattle.

She met and married the late W. H. Rader here. Before the coming of the railroad in 1886, the settlers in this area made regular trips to The Dales, Ore., to replenish their supplies.

In addition to Mrs. Rogers, Mrs. Rader is survived by four other daughters, Mrs. F. M. Powell of Puyallup, Mrs. P. F. Stevens of Tacoma, and Verna R. Manson and Mrs. A. R. Tisdale of Seattle; a son, Ben F. Rader of Ellensburg; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. [Daughter Blossom is not mentioned but is alive].
