Immediately after their marriage Eva and Rob made their home in Hastings, Nebraska. In 1948 Rob and Eva were living at 2318 Park Ave., Lincoln, NE. Rob was killed in his garage (he lived at the time at 1901 D St. in Lincoln, NE) when his shot gut accidentally went off as he was getting out of his car after returning from a day-long pheasant hunting trip near Plainview, NE. He and Eva had no children. He was a professional tea taster/tester and a prominent life insurance agent.

Rob was a long-time Elder in the Presbyterian Church, and, in fact, helped serve the elements of communion in Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, NE on the last Sunday of his life. He was said to be a man of utter honesty and fidelity. However, he was known, also, to be "rather distant," and his wife Eva was "imperious," enough so that many people had a difficult time warming up to her. They had no children.
