Luther Tyler, son of the late Grant and Ester Tyler. Born on August 25, 1924 in Goochland County, Virginia. He was one of seventeen children.
Luther was inducted into the U.S. Army during World War II where he later received an honorable discharge. Upon discharge from the Army, he became a life time member of the American Legion Northeastern Post 285 which he loved dearly. A devoted member, receiving many awards and served as the Commander and Chairman of the Executive Board.
After his stay in the Army, Luther moved to Baltimore, Md. in the mid-forties. He was employed by Bethlehem Steel Co. where he worked until he retired in April of 1983.
On May 21, 1959 he married the Linda Wright and they had 43 wonderful years of marital bliss together.
Luther had a nick name for everybody his family members, friends and co-workers. His most enjoyable moments were spent in conversations with family and friends where he was always a major part of the discussion. A jovial and happy person he was entertaining us with his jokes followed by his hearty laughter. You can bet that he will be missed by all.
Leaving to cherish his memory, his wife Linda Tyler, one stepson Percell Gilliam, one grandson Percell Jr., five sisters, three brothers, three brother-in-law, four sister-in-law and a grand host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
