She was born on June 8, 1920 in Brooklet, GA. She was a graduate of the class of 1937 from Russell High School in East Point, GA. She was a WWII Veteran. She was a longtime member of the Newton Estates Baptist Church of College Park, GA and First Baptist Church of Cliftondale, GA. She was an avid gardener and a longtime member of Crossroad Garden Club.
Sarah is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Charles Curtis Rone. She is survived by her sons, Charles Curtis Rone, Jr. (Donna), Robert Lee Rone (Pat), and James David Rone (Liz); grandchildren, Jeni Rone, Lizabee Ciesar (Chuck), Nick Rone (Amanda), and Anne Rone; one great-granddaughter, Roxie Ciesar.
The family will receive friends at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home & Crematory in Peachtree City, GA on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 from 5:00-7:00pm. The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Cliftondale, 4005 Stonewall Tell Road, College Park, GA with Rev. Bob Powers officiating. Interment will be at 2:30pm at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA with military honors. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Cliftondale.
