Ichabod Lord Skinner graduated in 1793 from Yale College, and went on to study theology with Rev. Jonathan Edwards. A learned man, he was a reverend, a lawyer, an engineer, and a school teacher during his lifetime. His father-in-law, Joseph Spencer, was a Major General during the Revolutionary War. He lived in Connecticut, Washington D.C., Maryland, and finally in New York. He died of an apparent heart attack while attending church services.
