BEST IS TAKEN BY DEATH; RITES ARE WEDNESDAY
Henry Best,67, car distributer for the Burlington McCook division, died suddenly at his home here Sunday afternoon. He had not been ill although he took a few hours off from work Saturday afternoon. He had eaten dinner with his wife yesterday and was reading the paper at the time of his death.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from the First Congregational Church. The Christian Science service will be read by Ben Hormel. There will be a Masonic service at the cemetery. Mr. Best was a member of the local Masonic bodies AF & AM no. 135, King Cyrus Chapter number 35, Occonoxee Council number 16 and he belonged to the Aksarben Chapter OES at Omaha.
He is survived by his wife, the former Ila Maude Briggs, whom he married at Oberlin in 1909; one son, Ellwood, and a daughter, Mrs. Lillian Dunbar who lives in McCook. Another daughter, Mrs. Ila Stramel, resides in Minneapolis. Two brothers, George and Albert live in Bladen, NE. Other survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Zena Kral of Hastings, and Mrs. Suzan McMahon of Morrill, NE and three grandchildren.
Mr. Best was well known over the Burlington system. He began working for the railroad in 1905 as a clerk in the freight office at McCook. In 1918 he went to Omaha to the office of the Assistant Superintendent of transportation, working there until 1930 when he went to Chicago. Later he came back to McCook.
