Youth Dies As Crash Toll Rises

A 21-year-old North Austin man died Saturday night from injuries sustained in an auto crash, jumping the Central Texas violent death toll to 25 in 22 days.

Joseph Terbay Jr., of 4608 Caswell, died in Brackenridge Hospital at 8:21 a.m. Saturday, less than 24 hours after suffering head and internal injuries in a car-truck crash on a rain slick South Austin street Friday afternoon.

A passenger in Terbay's car, 18-year-old Bill Seals of 5802 Marilyn Drive, remained in fair condition at Brackenridge Hospital with a fractured collar bone. The driver of the dump truck involved in the collision in the 700 block of Oltorf Street, Jimmy Lee Dolley, 22, of 2002 East Fourth Street, was released from the hospital following emergency treatment Friday.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Rosemary Terbay, one sister, Miss Patricia Ann Terbay; and two brothers, Thomas J. Terbay and Samuel J. Terbay, all of Austin.

Rosary will be recited Sunday at 8 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home. Requiem mass will be offered Monday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral with Rev. Harold G. Zink, C. S. C., officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Edward Terbay, Cecil Terbay, Bob Terbay, Harold Hasham, Jerry Nicklos, Charley Nohra, Jr., and Ronnie Attal.
