Rachel Hampton was the daughter of Moses and Hannah (Van Natta) Hampton and sister of Congressman Moses Hampton.

She m.1 Artemas Day Hathaway (1807-1843) 8 Aug 1828. They had six children: Moses Hampton, Jelina Ann, Hiram Day, Mary Jane, Selim Armine, and Eveline.

She m.2 George Clinton McKay 23 Feb 1845. They had four children (see George Clinton McKay).
