Ruby was the daughter of the late William Barrett and Elizabeth (Elkins) Clay. Ruby married 1st Bogle Trent February 21, 1924 and to this union had 4 children; Hannie (who preceeded her in death), Lona Mae, Kenneth Melvin, and Billy Trent.
She then married Sam Nelson, unknown when.

Spurlockville - Mrs. Ruby Clay Nelson, 68, of Spurlockville, Lincoln County, died Wednesday in a Huntington Hospital.
Surviving: sons, Earl of Dearborn, Mich., Robert of Cleveland, Ohio, Ronald of Spurlockville, Tommy of California; daughters, Mrs. Lona Poore of Madison, Mrs. Margaret Dickenson of Twilight, Mrs. Mary Ann Thorne of Spurlockville; brother, Buddy of Spurlockville; sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Lewis of Whitesville; 15 grandchildren; one great grandchild.
Service will be 11 a.m. in Koontz Funeral Home, Hamlin, with the Rev. Roy Withrow officiating. Burial will be in Bear Branch Cemetery, Spurlockville. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
