Falling Tree Kills Local Man

William Woods, 49, was killed instantly when felling a tree on the Precht farm near Yellow Bank Wednesday afternoon.

The falling tree struck him and broke his neck. Mr. Woods lived here and was employed on the Connersville Road paving project.

Man Killed by Falling Tree

William Woods, age 49, was fatally injured whe he was struck by a falling tree near Yellow Bank, Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Woods was employed in cutting timber at that place, and the tree which they were cutting, split when falling, a portion of it pinning the unfortunate man beneath it, breaking his neck.

The deceased was well known in this city, being employed in the construction of the Conersville Road last summer and residing here until Christmas. He had just recently returned to this community.

Funeral arrangements could not be learned as we go to press.

William Wood Meets Accidental Death While Cutting Ties

William Wood, a former resident of Williamsport, was killed Wednesday of last week, he having suffered a broken neck when a tree fell on him while he was cutting ties.

Mr. Wood was 44 years old and went to Brookville about a year ago. His wife passed away two years and four months ago when the family was residing in Williamsport. He is survived by seven children, the oldest of which is 18 years old.

The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at the funeral parlors in Brookville. Mrs. Sany Brown of this city, a sister of Mr. Wood, and her brother, Clarence Wood, and mother Mrs. Mary Jane Wood, of Danville, Ill., went to the funeral, returning home Sunday. Burial was made at Brookville.

*Interesting to note that all news accounts report the cuase of death as a broken neck resulting from a falling tree. However, the legal death certificate as filed with the state reports the cause of death as a broken neck resulting from an automobile accident.

Turn into the main entrance. Go all the way to the back. Turn left on the back perimeter road of the cemetery. William F Wood is buried in the 5th row east from the main road and the 7th stone north from the back perimeter road.
