LAFAYETTE, AL -- Mr. Neal Brooks Sr., 82, of LaFayette died Thursday, 13 May 2004 at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville, FL.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, 16 May 2004 at Jeff Jones Funeral Home in LaFayette, AL with Rev Floyd Aikens officiating. Burial followed at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Huguley, AL.
Mr. Brooks is survived by his wife, Ethel Brooks of LaFayette, AL; six children, Neal Brooks Jr. of Valley, AL, Wayne Brooks of Valley, AL, Judy Brooks Guthrie of Jacksonville, FL, Zenus Huddleston of Valley, AL, Mavis Hill of Valley, AL and Thomas Huddleston of Valley, AL; two brothers, Harold Brooks of Roanoke, AL and Olin Brooks of VA; 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Born 22 Mar 1922 in Chambers County, AL, Mr. Brooks was a member of Denver Holiness Church of Camp Hill, AL. He was a US Army veteran with the 908 Field Artillery, and he participated in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Brooks was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and was a Mason.
Visitation was held at the funeral home Saturday evening.
