Mr. Brooks passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2015, at Traylor’s Nursing Center.
Survivors include one daughter, Glenda Brooks of Roanoke; two sons, Ken Brooks (wife, Pam) of Woodland; and David Brooks (wife, Sherrer) of Roanoke; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A native of Chambers County and a resident of Randolph County for many years, Mr. Brooks was born on August 13, 1926, the son of Henry O. and Mettie Eula Bryant Brooks. He was a member of Handley Avenue Church of God. He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran and a Korean War and Vietnam War U.S. Air Force Veteran. Following retirement from the U.S. Air Force after 27 years of service, Mr. Brooks worked for West Point Pepperell. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Verbie Brooks; his daughter, Janice Brooks; and four brothers.
Memorials may be floral or the family requests contributions to the Church of God’s Children Home, c/o Handley Avenue Church of God.
