RICHARD JOHNS BURIED SUNDAY

Richard Johns 78, died at his home at 382 F St. Salt Lake City, after a three months illness.
He was born at St. Just, Cornwall, England, September 19,1857. Came to this country about 55 years ago. Spent some time mining in Nevada and Idaho. Later he settled in Salt Lake City where he attended Westminster college.
He married Mary Staten of Springville, Utah and the young people went to Eureka Utah to make their home. while there he engaged in the butcher business and mining. After a few years his health failed and he spent some two years in England and Africa to recuperate.
When he returned, a change of occupation seemed to be necessary. In 1901 he came with his family to Star Valley, where he settled at Fairview, and since then has been engaged in ranching and stock raising.
For the past seven years he has spent the winters in Salt Lake City.
Early in November he was taken ill and has gradually became worse until death claimed him January 29, 1936.
He has been a member of the I.O.O.F Lodge since 1889. Funeral services were held in the chapel of the Larkin Mortuary at Salt Lake City, sunday February 2, 1936, under the direction of the I.O.O.F. Lodge. Interment was made at the Springville cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, Charles and William Johns of Afton and Mrs Mary Millward of Fairview, 22 grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, 2 sisters Mrs George smith of Oakland, California and Mrs Jas. Trembath, Durban S. Africa, 2 brothers, Ernest Johns, Stockton California and Wm Johns of Australia.
