Services For Mrs. Bartelme To Be Held At Cooperstown
Mrs. Nora Bartelme, 74, widow of John Bartelme, veteran cattle buyer and meat market operator, died late Wednesday at the home in the village of Cooperstown. She had been ill for a year and confined to her home for nearly three months.
Funeral Saturday Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the St. James Catholic church, Cooperstown. Rev. Father James Husslein will be the celebrant of the funeral mass, assisted by the Rev. Lambert Scanlon, Appleton, a nephew of the deceased, as deacon, and the Rev. Michael Jaskowski, DePere, as sub-deacon. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Bartelme, nee Nora Scanlon, was born at Cooperstown in 1863, and educated in schools of the town. In 18_7, she was married to John Bartelme, buyer of livestock. Mr. and Mrs. Bartelme established one of the first meat markets in Cooperstown, which they conducted for many years. Mr. Bartelme died eight years ago.
Mrs. Bartelme was active in church and welfare work at Cooperstown.
She was a member of the Christian Mothers of the St. James church and of the Dominican Order of Lay Sisterhood in whose garments she will be robed.
10 Children Survive Survivors are five daughters, Mrs. John Wellner, Maribel; Mrs. Ambrose O’Hearn, Reedsville, Monica, Cooperstown, Mrs. Afra Kellner and Mrs. Louis Kriwanek, Denmark; five sons, George, Sioux City, Iowa, Leo, Glendale, Calif., John, Maribel, Eugene and Benedict, City; two brothers, Dennis and Michael, Denmark; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Bradley, Denmark; and 19 grandchildren.
The body is at the Bartelme home in Cooperstown.
