Bapt 19 April 1850 wit Ann Dorward and Ann Thomson son of William Henry Colville and Mary Alexander. Moved to New Zealand in 1859 on the "Gala" with his parents.
An account in the Arrow Observer Jan 19 1872, tells about his being crushed by a horse while jumping hurdles, but was recovering. He was a rancher, but evidently not too successful. Never married. He was mostly a wandering person and ready to try most any adventurer and enterprise. Always buying and selling land, cattle, sheep, and stock(in stock market) He goes to Canada with his half brother Alexander in 1910. He came to New Mexico and started the sheep ranch before the rest of the family came.
David had the ranch in New Mexico, Medicine Hat, Alberta Canada, then to Mexico, and then died in San Antonio. He was once chased by Poncho Via in Mexico.
