John Edward Muth, 93, a former resident of Waynesboro, died at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Monterue Nursing Home, Frederick.
Mr. Muth was born March 4, 1875 in Eyler's Valley Frederick County, Md., a son of the late Augustus and Vermenia Eyler Muth.
Most of his life was lived in the Waynesboro area. For a number of years he was employed by the Pennsylvania Railway and prior to his retirement he was employed as a farmer by his brother, the late Emory Muth.
His wife, Bessie Snider Muth, died in 1918.
Mr. Muth was a member of the Waynesboro Owls club.
He is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Milo G. Bohn, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Mrs. Roy Hovis, Waynesboro; Mrs. Roycoe Stitely, Thurmont and Mrs. Wilbur Gladhill, Fairfield R. 1. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 43 great- grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a sister, Mrs. John Minnich, Waynesboro.

The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro, in charge of the Rev. Samuel Flora, Jr. Burial will be made in Burns Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 until 9 p.m. Saturday.
