Services for Richard Blankinship, 54, of Joseph, Ore., who died at the home of a son-in-law in Boise Friday following a sudden illness, will be held at 2:30 pm Tuesday at the Community Church Enterprise, Ore., with the Rev. Jimmie Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Creek in Joseph with military honors under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home.
Born July 6, 1915 at Peola, Wash., he moved to Lewiston, at the age of 13 living there until 1941. He served in the Armed Forces in the Second Infantry Division in Europe during WW II, until his discharge in 1945. He was a rancher in Wallowa Co., Ore., from 1946 until 1961. He owned the Gateway Market in Joseph for six years and for the past two years had worked for Fred's Market in Enterprise. He married Marian Haynes Feb 7, 1969 at Elko, Nev.
He was a member of the Elk's Lodge in Lewiston the Masonic Lodge in Joseph and the American Legion also of Joseph.
Survivors include his wife Marian, Joseph and three brothers Murphy and Jim Blankinship both of Joseph and Raymond Blankinship of Clarkston Wash.
