Funeral services for William Cook, pioneer resident of this county were held Thursday, August 13, at 3:30 o'clock from the First Baptist Church.
Mr. Cook was born January 28, 1853 in Indiana. He came to Texas 57 years ago, and has been a resident of Wellington since April 7, 1911. He has been in the furniture and second hand business since he came here. Mr. Cook's many friends over the county mourn his passing.
Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Lucy Cook, who died here March 6, 1931.
Having resided in this county for the past 25 years, Mrs. Cook was widely known over the entire county. As an active merchant in this county in past years he acquired numerous friends. During recent years he has not been physically able to operate his store, but was a familiar figure and usually visited in town each day.
Survivors of Mr. Cook are his two sons, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cook, and Mr. and Mrs. Jess Cook of Wellington; grandchildren, Joe Cook, Jr. Lehlen Cook, J.N. Cook, Frank Cook, and Mrs. Dempsey Harrell of Wellington; great-grandchild Jerry Cook and two sisters and five brothers.
