FUNERAL OF MRS. GERTRUDE EVARD HELD AT NEW HAVEN
Final rites for Mrs. Gertrude Evard, 77, a former resident of south of Auburn, were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Methodist church at New Haven.
Mrs. Evard died at 8:20 p.m. Saturday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Faye Moore of Bryan, Ohio. her death resulted from a broken hip and complications. Last Jan. 23, she suffered a fractured hip in a fall and was taken to the Lutheran hospital at Fort Wayne, where she was a patient for eight weeks. After release from the hospital, sh was taken to the home of her daughter. She had suffered for the past several months with a heart ailment.
Rev. Gail Davis officiated at the services Tuesday morning. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery of the Methodist church at New Haven.
A native of Allen County, Mrs. Evard was born April 7, 1872. Her first husband, Even Carnahan, to whom she was married in 1898, died in 1930. She was married in 1938 to Clement Evard, who resides at New Haven. Mrs. Evard resided for 40 years in the community south of Auburn.
Surviving besides the husband and the daughter in Bryan are two other daughters, Mrs. Jessie Clark of Webster, Wisc., and Mrs. Belle Anderson of Chassell, Mic.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Rev. Charles Hollopeter of 109 West Fourth street, Auburn, and two sisters, Mrs. Belle Fitch of Huntertown and Mrs. Grace Rundles of Hudson.
