Captain W. C. Hollopeter Passes Away After Long Illness.
Capt. W. C. Hollopeter, a, resident of Cedar Creek township for the last sixty-six years and prominent in G. A. R. circles of Allen county, died at 1:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at his home near Leo at the age of 81 years and 2 months. Death was due to complications and followed a prolonged illness.
Captain Hollopeter was one of the best known farmers of Allen county and during the civil war he won much honor as captain of Company C, 88th Indiana volunteer infantry.
He was a member of Lawton-Wayne post of the G A. R., and for years had been an active worker in the affairs of the Methodist Episcopal church near Leo. He was also A member of the Masonic lodge at Leo.
As a farmer he was prosperous, as a churchman he was a leader in congregationnl affairs, and during his entire life he occupied a place of high standing in the community. His death is sorrowfully mourned by all who knew him.
Surviving besides the widow he leaves four sons and four daughters; Rev. C. M. Hollopeter, of Monroeville; Rev. W. M. Hollopeter, of Cambridge City; Prof. H.S. Hollopeter, of Mason City, Ia.; Lloyd H. Hollopeter, of Huntertown; Mrs. W.J. Carnahan and mrs. E.T. Carnahan, of Auburn; Mrs. D.C. Rundles, of Champaign, Ill., and Mrs. J.B. Fitch, of Huntertown.
Funeral services Saturday morning at 11 o'clock from the residence and at 11:30 o'clork from the Leo church.
