Delbert James Parton, 83, of 141 Bellamy St., died at his home, Friday, October 6, 2006. Mr. Parton was the husband of Catherine Roddy Parton of the home and the son of the late Cromer R. and Callie Hannah Parton.

Mr. Parton was previously a Textile Foreman with Reeves Brothers before his retirement in 1984. He served in WWII with the U.S. Army Paratroopers, 101st Airborne Division. A member of Davis Chapel Wesleyan Church, Mr. Parton was a Mason with the Cherokee Springs Lodge # 135 and American Legion Post #28.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Parton is survived by 3 sons, Enoch C. Parton of Converse, Douglas E. Parton of Clifton, and J. D. Parton of Spartanburg; 2 daughters, Runette P. Cannon of Mayo, and Becky P. Porter of the home; one brother, C. R. Parton, Jr. of Mayo; 3 sisters, Irene P. Inman of Wellford, Eloise P. Deyton of Union Mills, NC, and Barbara Jean P. Sherbert of Spartanburg; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Saturday, October 7, 2006 at Bobo Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 8, at Davis Chapel Wesleyan Church officiated by Rev. Howard Smith and Rev. Marshall Rampey. Mr. Parton will be placed in the church at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in Springhill Memorial Gardens, Chesnee, with military rites
