Titus Gragg is the 2nd son born to Jacob Gagg and Mary Polly Hatcher. Married: (1) Charlotte Renfro, March 19, 1801 in Cumberland, Kentucky (2) Nancy Matney, September 2, 1824 in Edwardsville, Madison, Illinois. He was a First Lieutenant in General Samuel Whitesides' Company during the War of 1812. Titus was a wheel-wright in Madison Co., Ill. and had a blacksmith shop. In 1834 he built a water mill on Beck's Creek northwest of Herrick, Illinois. In Nancy's pension application after the death of Titus was a physical description of him: Hair-Black, Eyes-Black, Complexion-Dark, Height 5 ft. 7 in. It is believed that there is Cherokee Indian Heritage.
