Hezekiah Holt came from CT to IL with his parents as an infant. He farmed with his father and brother. At age 18 he entered Wheaton College, by the following year he taught school at Gary's Mill.

He and his brother Erastus formed a partnership, having a successful reaper agency. After Erastus' death, Hezekiah moved to Turner. His mother and his brother's children accompanied him. At Turner he formed a hardware partnership with Wesley Gary. Three years later he moved back to Wheaton, resuming the hardware business with his nephew, Edward. Hezekiah was also into the real estate business.

He was elected for the village board and President of Wheaton, 1884...this info from Ruth.

Hezekiah was an active part in the lives of his deceased brother's children. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, politically active and well respected in the community.

Death was caused by enlargement of the heart by Bright's disease, just a few weeks after his nephew Edward passed away.
