Cleveland and Nancy Hagler moved to Troy, Madison, Illinois around 1819 where he purchased land to farm. Cleveland's brother Benjamin was also a farmer in Madison. Cleveland's brothers John and William also Settled in the area. Cleveland was an official of the county in 1835. In 1843 members of this Hagler family resettled in Van Buren, County, IA Territory near the town of Milton, which is about 230 miles NW of Troy, Illinois. Cleveland died at the home of his son Joshua.
