CLEVELAND HEIGHTS — John Ivancic, 86, Cleveland Heights.

Loving husband of 62 years of Amelia Samaha Ivancic. Father of John Ivancic Jr. of Sandy Lake, Pa; Peter Ivancic of Fox Chapel, Pa; Fran Mentch of Cleveland Hts. Much loved father-in-law of Mace Mentch. Beloved grandfather of Leah, Daniel, Lynn and Timothy. Brother of Tom Ivancic, Elyria, OH and to (deceased) Bill Ivancic, Fritz Ivancic, Jo Steglin and Mary Rahotina. Uncle and great-uncle to many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Awarded All-Ohio football guard for Clearview High School. WWII veteran; served in the Navy. Ohio State graduate in agronomy. Much of his life work and interest was in caring for the earth. He was an avid gardener, a talented fixer-upper, world's greatest fisher-cleaner, a constant reader, and an expert in American History; and, until the last few years when his health failed, he was a human GPS. He loved people, animals (Rocky and Cuddles), and politics, and was a very responsible neighbor and citizen. He worried about our country's future. He took good care of everyone and everything that touched his life.

In keeping with this, his body was donated to the Cleveland Clinic and those wishing to express sympathy can make a donation to the Cleveland Foodbank.
