Willie James Altman died at home at Jamestown on February 6, 1954.
Mr. Altman was a son of John Altman and Liza Ward Altman. He had lived in Williamsburg County until he moved to Berkeley County about twelve years ago. He was a farmer and was a member of St. James Methodist Church.
He was survived by his widow, Mrs. Viola Timmons Altman; a son, Luther J. Altman of Jamestown; seven daughters, Mrs. Ola Sprauge and Mrs. Mazie Smith, both of Jamestown, Mrs. Mabel Thompson of Coward, Mrs. Celia Carter of Georgetown, Mrs. Bernice Baudo of Buffalo, N. Y., Mrs. Carrie Millwood of Charleston, and Mrs. Mattie Riveras of Centerline, Mich.; a brother, Lester Altman of Lake City; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Della Altman Lambert of Georgia and Mrs. Belle Altman Wilkes of Timmonsville; 21 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
