My 3rd Great-Uncle. 4th great-grandson of Godfrey I and Mary Ragsdale.

June 1860 he is listed as Teacher, Union, Shelby Co., IN.

Married 1) Elizabeth Ann Snodgrass, May 3, 1861 in Hancock Co., IN. They later divorced. Children:

"Aunt Lou mentioned that her father, Martin Scott Ragsdale was a chaplain at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City, Indiana. She said 'I remember, as a little girl, often taking my father's lunch to him at the prison.' She went on to describe the prison grounds and that she had no fear of the prisoners. Based on this information her parents must have lived close to the prison." From a letter written by Floyd D. Ragsdale, 29 December 1995.
