Agnes M. Durkee, 91, of 259 Cornelia St., died Saturday, Sept. 9, 1995, at her home. Born in Churubusco March 14, 1904, she was the daughter of Wilfred and Cora (Trombley) LaClair. She married Eugene S. Durkee on Sept. 16, 1929 at St. Philomena's Church in Churubusco. Mr. Durkee died Sept. 19, 1973. Mrs. Durkee worked in Plattsburgh department stores for 22 years then was employed by Merkel's. She retired from Montgomery Ward as a department head in 1970. She was an airplane spotter for Civil Defense during World War II and an avid traveler who visited 49 of the 50 states. She also enjoyed gardening and had hers chosen for the Kent DeLord House Secret Garden Tour in 1995. She was a member of St. Peter's Church, a 54-year member of Catholic Daughters of America Court 179, AARP National chapter 426 and Plattsburgh chapter 2053, Senior Citizens Council of Clinton County, Newcomers Club of Plattsburgh and the Golden Age Club of Plattsburgh. Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Connie Durkee of Plattsburgh, Nancy and Albert Cooper of Enterprise, Ala., and Jacqueline and Richard McCormick of Keeseville; a sister, Beatrice Otis of Tupper Lake; two brothers, Peter LaClair of Burke and Amos LaClair of Churubusco; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Members of the Catholic Daughters will meet at the funeral home at 3 p.m. today. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at St. Peter's Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburgh. Memorial donations may be made to the Kent DeLord House or St. Peter's Church Memorial Fund.
